JACK TYRRELL, MANAGING PARTNER Mr. Tyrrell has 20 years of venture capital experience as founding partner in three Richland Ventures funds and two Lawrence, Tyrrell, Ortale & Smith funds. Prior to entering the venture capital business, Mr. Tyrrell founded the Prudential-Bache Health Care Group, a specialized investment bank. Mr. Tyrrell also spent six years at Hospital Corporation of America as Vice-President of Finance. His responsibilities at HCA included capital market activity and acquisition analysis. Mr. Tyrrell has served as a director of numerous public and private companies including Oxford Health Plans, Symbion, Regal Cinemas, National Health Investors and Six Flags. He currently sits on five boards. Mr. Tyrrell received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. PAT ORTALE, MANAGING PARTNER Mr. Ortale has 20 years of venture capital experience. Before founding Richland Ventures I, II and III, Mr. Ortale was a founding partner in two Lawrence, Tyrrell, Ortale & Smith funds. Prior to entering the venture capital industry, Mr. Ortale spent six years as an investment banker, first as a Vice-President of J.C. Bradford & Co. and later as First Vice-President of the Prudential-Bache Health Care Group. Mr. Ortale has been involved in a wide range of investment banking transactions with private and public companies. Mr. Ortale has been a director of several public and private companies, including United Dental Care, First Commonwealth, Quest Education, and @plan. He currently sits on two boards. Mr. Ortale received a B.A. degree from Hanover College and a J.D. degree from the Nashville School of Law. DAVID FITZGERALD, PARTNER
Mr. Fitzgerald has ten years of experience in venture capital and mergers and acquisitions for venture financed companies. His investment and operating experiences have been focused on the healthcare and business services sectors. He is currently a director of Adorno Mobility, Lightyear Technology and TeleVox Software. Mr. Fitzgerald is also actively involved with Appriss, Intechra and U.S. HealthWorks. Prior to joining Richland, Mr. Fitzgerald served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Darwin Networks, where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Fitzgerald led market development and acquisition activities for InformDx, a diagnostic laboratory company. Mr. Fitzgerald received a B.A. degree from Washington & Lee University.
